Do I need a referral from my doctor before attending physical therapy? In New York, direct access allows you to see a physical therapist or occupational therapist without a doctor's referral, but it is limited to a certain number of visits, for physical therapy 10 visits or 30 days, before a referral is required. What happens when you come in.

A detailed assessment first.
Then hands-on treatment. Then you understand why.

The order matters. Nothing is treated before it has been assessed, and nothing is assessed by looking only at the spot that hurts. These are the three questions patients ask most about the visit itself.

What happens on a first visit?

Dr. Jeon starts with a detailed assessment to identify the root cause of your pain, not just the symptoms, and he assesses the whole body rather than only the painful area. You then get hands-on treatment, and he explains what he found so you leave understanding what is happening.

How long will it take?

There is no single answer, and anyone who gives you one before assessing you is guessing. Dr. Jeon will tell you what he found at the first visit and what he expects the plan to look like, then adjust it as you respond to treatment.

What makes this different?

You always work directly with Dr. Hochung Jeon, PT, DPT. No handoffs to aides or assistants, and no treating the painful area in isolation. Advanced training in the Mulligan Concept and Functional Manual Therapy is what enables him to address root causes of pain, not just symptoms.

Every session is with Dr. Jeon himself.
