Active Release Technique in New York

Precise pressure applied while you move, used to free the adhesions and scar tissue that stop a muscle from gliding the way it should.

Treatment that works while you move.

Active Release Technique does two things at once. Dr. Hochung Jeon holds precise, specific pressure on the restricted tissue while you actively take the limb through its range. That combination of contact and your own movement is what separates it from a static rub or a stretch you could do at home.

The target is adhesion: thickened, sticky tissue that builds up after an injury or after months of the same repeated movement. Adhesion stops muscles, tendons, and nerves from sliding past each other cleanly, and that shows up as tightness, catching, or a range of motion you simply cannot get back.

Made for tissue that has become stuck.

If your problem feels like tightness that stretching never fixes, or a range of motion that stops short for no obvious reason, restricted soft tissue is often what is behind it.

Finding the Restriction

Dr. Jeon works through the tissue by hand to locate exactly where it has lost its glide. Texture, tension, and the way the tissue moves under contact all tell him where the real problem sits.

Pressure Plus Your Movement

He holds contact on the restricted spot while you take the limb through its full range. The tissue is drawn under that contact, and the adhesion is worked free rather than stretched around.

Retest and Reload

Range is retested straight away so you can see what changed, then loaded with exercise so the tissue keeps the length it just gained instead of tightening back down.

Glide restored, range returned.

Free the tissue that was stuck and the movement it had been blocking usually comes back quickly.

Range of Motion Back

Movement that used to stop short goes further, without you having to force it or push through pain.

Tightness That Stops Returning

Treating the adhesion itself does what stretching a stuck piece of tissue over and over never could.

Strength Without the Catch

Muscle that can glide properly can contract properly, so it takes load without pinching or grabbing.

A Clear Cause and a Clear Plan

You find out which tissue was restricted, why, and what to do so it does not lock up again.

What patients say.

"Best physical therapist I've ever been to and it's not even close. Dr. Jeon spends each session carefully assessing your pain points and what exactly is causing them."
